Spring Floral Design with FarmGal Flowers

Learn to create a lush, garden-style floral centerpiece that highlights locally grown flowers and foliage with FarmGal Flowers! Eileen will demonstrate step-by-step how to make a beautiful Spring centerpiece. Then you will create your very own arrangement in a specially selected vase with beautiful blooms. Eileen will also share her tried and true tips for caring for your flowers and maximizing their vase life. Please bring floral snips (I’ll have some extra pairs if you do not have any), pen, notebook, sunglasses, hat, water, etc.

This workshop will be held outdoors under the canopy at East End Market. Students will be notified as soon as possible if the workshop needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

These are some of her all-time favorites including lisianthus, snapdragons, foxgloves, delphinium, and more. Under Eileen’s tutelage, you will learn to get a head start on your Spring cutting garden and grow a bounty of beautiful and unique flowers to create your own bouquets. Students will take home seeds and/or plugs especially curated for  Central Florida gardeners by Eileen. Please bring a Sharpie, pen and notebook. All other materials included.

OVERVIEW: Join us for a discussion on what it means to grow flowers in the challenging climatic conditions of the southern US.

Debra Prinzing, founder of the Slow Flowers Society, and Hillary Alger, Johnny’s Flower Product Manager, will host a guest panel of experienced cut-flower growers from Florida, North Carolina, and Texas. We’ll hear their farming stories firsthand and discuss regional growing challenges, lessons learned, and their favorite varieties.

Join Eileen Tongson of FarmGal Flowers for an in-depth presentation and demonstration of floral design.

Eileen will construct several arrangements including a kitchen garden bouquet, her signature botanical design, a Florida foliage design including succulents, and garden scene tablescape of bud vases. She will share the story of her passion for locally grown flowers, starting with a packet of seeds from her mom that grew into a successful business with a national reputation.

The Designer of Distinction is an annual fundraising event that presents an expert in the field of floral design demonstrating and discussing her work. Eileen’s presentation will be followed by a raffle of the arrangements she creates and a catered lunch.

FarmGal Flowers will teach you step-by-step how to make this long lasting centerpiece for your Christmas table. Each tree has approximately 40 succulents! Eileen will also teach you how to care for your succulents after the holiday season. ADVANCED SPRING CUTTING GARDEN & FLOWER SEED PROPAGATION WORKSHOP

Saturday, February 2, 2019 1pm- 3pm, Leu Gardens

This workshop is for students who have previously attended one of FarmGal’s cut flower & seed propagation classes. Eileen, the FarmGal, will share her favorite Spring cut flowers for the advanced gardener and how to grow them in our challenging zone. We’ll also learn to create origami seedling pots and plant them for the Spring garden. Each student will take home a tray of potted flower seeds, a stylish plant mister to water their seeds with, and some other surprises! Under Eileen’s tutelage, you will grow a bounty of beautiful and unique flowers to create your own bouquets from your very own cutting garden. Register here. BUTTERFLY GARDENING

Join FarmGal Flowers to learn how to create your own butterfly garden. We will discuss the life cycle of the butterfly and which butterflies are common to our community. We’ll identify which plants help attract butterflies to your garden and how to care for them. We’ll also learn about “host” and “nectar” plants and why they are essential to butterfly gardens. Lastly, we’ll learn about the importance of pollinators and how you can make your butterfly garden a certified monarch waystation. Our friends from The Monarch Initiative will be joining us!
